Larry is a Lemon

Friday, 8th February
No Hoover today folks!

I think it was Robert Burns who said ""The best laid schemes o' mice an' men / Gang aft agley." (The best laid schemes of mice and men / Often go awry.)  And so they did today.

Helen now needs a car for her work and the opportunity arose to borrow a car for a couple of months from a colleague.  However, on one of Helen's early trips to The Strip,  Larry decided to 'die' leaving her stranded in a bus lane.  Fortunately, she managed to get into a car park and await help.  The car was fixed with a new fuel pipe and she thought everything was okay. And so it was until yesterday morning.  Still them the breaks. Her husband was driving it to work leaving us with the Mustang to go to the Hoover Dam.  Larry the Lemon decided it was time to 'die' again not a good move when someone is trying to get to work.  Anyway, the long and short of it was that Helen had to do a rescue operation and do a car swap.  Larry was then bought back to the house where he sits in disgrace.

The Veganians love those Rosemary shrubs

Fortunately, there is so much to see and do round here it did not cause any inconvenience.  Eddie had sorted his caching exploits out before we left Englandshire, therefore we planned our walk according to where we would find the little plastic pots.

Our tour took in Costco (Wholesale outlet) Lowes (bit like Homebase) Marshalls (TK Max type of place) Bed, bath and Beyond (An Aladdins cave of delights that you didn't even know you wanted, think Lakeland, Dunhelm all rolled into one). The Coffee and Bean shop for a mid morning break. Finally, ending up at the Yard House at the Red Rock Casino and Hotel for a great lunch.  Would certainly recommend it.  The Raspberry Cider was fab and the Clam Chowder very scrummy.  And yes, you can have a yard of ale if you so desire.
When you have your own casino you can afford the personalised plates.

Red Rock Hotel and Casino and Yard House Eatery.

A total of 5 miles walked and a learning point on how to cross huge multi lane roads in less than 30 seconds.  Quite scary.  A good walk, 5 caches and a bit of shopping what could be better.
